Former Northern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Er-Gene Kahng (shown above) returns to perform the recently discovered Violin Concerto No. 2 of Arkansas composer Florence Beatrice Price. Price is noted as the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer, and the first to have a composition played by a major orchestra. The NMSO also welcomes the collaboration of the choruses from Itawamba and Northeast Mississippi Community Colleges, and the NMSO Children’s Chorus, all of whom have contributed so richly and significantly to the success of the NMSO and our regional community.
